Jack Longacre Paul, 96, of Sheridan, WY passed away December 30, 2024, at the Westview Healthcare Center.
Jack was born on June 6, 1928, to Pleasant William Paul and Pearl Catherine (Perrine) Paul in Monegaw Springs, MO. He was blessed with 10 siblings consisting of 4 sisters: Marty, Sandy, Peggy and Cleta; and 6 brothers: Lawrence, Harlon, Walt, William Jr., Richard and Ernie.
After serving in the United States Marine Corps, Jack and his brother Lawrence moved to Sheridan, WY where they found employment with the Heights Ranch. Jack later worked for Church Beverages before he obtained employment at the Sheridan VA Hospital in the paint shop. Jack worked his way up to the head of the Paint Shop and worked there until he retired.
Jack found love and married Mary L. (Niemann) Paul. They were blessed with three children: Sandy, Jackie and Randy. Although they later divorced after 22 years of marriage they remained best friends. Jack spent many years with his longtime companion Letitia Scherry until she passed away in 2021.
Jack was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed the natural beauty of Wyoming. He loved fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, boating and waterskiing. Some of his favorite memories included hunting with his buddies and time spent with his family at the cabin in Story, WY.
Jack held lifetime memberships with many social clubs in Sheridan. He belonged to the American Legion Post No. 7 where he played the bass drum for the Drum and Bugle Corp. He was also a member of the Kalif Shrine and was a clown for the organization for many years. He also held membership with the Fraternal Order of the Eagles as well as the Elks Club.
Jack’s jokes, smiles, laugh and twinkle in his eye will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, 9 siblings and his son, Randy Paul. He is survived by his sister Peggy Guth of Oroville, CA; his daughters Sandy (Ray) Morton of Sheridan and Jackie Thorne of Honolulu, HI; grandchildren Laci (Nick) Little, Chris Randolph, Jessica (Jim) Lockwood, Tyler Thorne and Emma Scherry Cotton; and great grandchildren Wyatt, Isabella, Thurston, Stryder and Delilah.
A Celebration of Life will be held in June 2025.
