Kalvin K Kugler made his grand entrance into the world on October 5, 1956 in Greybull Wyoming. He was welcomed by his parents Emeal and Iva (Collingwood) Kugler, and 4 half sisters: Janice, Jackie, Judy and Alma. The girls were all quite a bit older than Kalvin when he was born, so he spent most of his growing up years as an "only" child. He was very close with his parents and was a good son. Kalvin started hunting as soon as he was able to go with his father. He had so many hunting stories because they would hunt with several people, and then afterward they processed their own meat. Later, he learned to reload his own bullets and enjoyed that very much, probably because of the precision. Kalvin was very meticulous and specific in everything he did. He used to joke that he had CDO. It's like OCD but the letters are in the correct order. He had a passion for music and played clarinet in High School. After he graduated from Basin High, he attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa Idaho and earned an Associates degree in Religion. He was interested in medicine, and decided to get a Pharmacy degree. He moved to Pocatello, Idaho and attended ISU. While he was there, he worked on freight crew at Smith's Food and Drug. Late one night a young lady named Paula came into the store and flirted with him, and he was hooked. She was a little shy, but he was bold enough for the two of them. They dated for 3 years, and Kalvin decided he was too active to be stuck behind a Pharmacy counter, so he did not finish his degree. Instead, he progressed through the positions at Smith's. He took a promotion and moved to Burley, Idaho, where he and Paula got married and made a home. Their first child Aaron Adam was born there, and shortly after that he got a store manager position in Casper Wyoming. He was born a leader, and he excelled at being the manager. Everyone loved him because he was a servant leader-he wouldn't ask anyone do anything he wouldn't do himself. He really thrived in Casper. The Nazarene church nurtured their little family so perfectly and Kalvin grew in his relationship with the Lord. He loved the people there and was involved in every way. Two more children were added to the family there, Corey Cameron and Keenen Alan. Paula was able to be a stay-at-home-mom, and life seemed perfect. He had no plans to leave Casper, but circumstances brought him to Sheridan for the opening of Walmart. And there is where he stayed. Talon James was the completion of his family, and he was thrilled to have all boys. He was so happy when he could pass on his skills, like hunting. Anything he did with the family was his joy. He was truly a talented man who could fix anything and accomplish anything. If he didn't know how, he would figure it out! There were a few jobs in the progression of his life, including the Salvation Army store, the People Assistance Food Bank, and Schwan's. His final job was driving for Fed Ex Ground. He absolutely loved running all the routes because he got to see so many different people. He probably knows most of the people in Sheridan. Kalvin was very present wherever he went. He was loud and silly, and loved making an entrance and being the center of attention. His family teased him because he wouldn't say that he knew someone, he would say "they know me". It was very true. Bottom line, Kalvin loved the Lord and loved his family. He was tragically taken away from us too soon and although he is gone from this world, he will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters, Janice and Jackie. Kalvin entered his true home in Heaven on April 9, 2025. He is survived by his wife Paula (Withers) Kugler, His children: Aaron (Tori) Kugler of Hutto TX; Corey (Amy) Kugler and their daughter, his first grandchild, Naomi Faye Kugler of Billings MT; Keenen Kugler of Sheridan WY, Talon (Sofia) Kugler of Sheridan WY; sisters, Judy (Carl)Carlson, Alma (Lee) Hoflund; brother-in-law Don (Mary Ellen) Arries; and Paula's parents, Merl & Shirlene Withers, and her siblings Lesa, Darren, and Ryan (Jamie) Withers; also numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday, April 26th at 10 am at Ignite Wesleyan Church. 404 W Brundage Lane in Sheridan.
