Curtis Robert Walters

Curtis Robert Walters passed away in Fort Myers, Florida with his daughter at his side on March 9th, 2026 from complications due to cancer, he was 67. Curt was born in Sheridan, Wyoming on March 2nd 1959 to Charles Roland and Mary Lou Walters, the third of five siblings. He attended Linden elementary, Central Junior High and graduated in 1977 from Sheridan High School. While in high school he played football and participated in wrestling and worked for Patty Bard.

Growing up, he was always part of the neighborhood "gang" playing and hanging out with Pat, Gary, and Rich. He shared many memories with friends including Ronnie, Rob, Gary, Don, and Mark. As an adult, he still had a group of "the boys" that got together to share stories and good times.

After graduating from high school he attended trade school in Phoenix, Arizona earning a drafting degree. After trade school Curt began working as a carpenter with Galloway Construction as well as with other construction companies and as an independent carpenter.

He took a lot of pride in his carpentry work and was very meticulous about doing the job right. Curt also liked doing crossword puzzles, woodworking, collecting rocks and spending time in the mountains camping and fishing at Park Reservoir. Curt also enjoyed playing adult men's softball, coed softball, golf, cribbage, collecting rocks and participating on a recreation league flag football team, which he considered the "real stuff."

Curt was married to Debby Kiester from 1985 to 1990 and during that time, his daughter Christina was born. In the last years of his life, Curt lived with his daughter Christina, her husband, and his grandchildren, helping restore their home that was damaged by Hurricane Ian. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially Omega, who loved watching TV with him, listening to his stories, and helping take care of him until the end.

Curt is survived by his mom Mary Lou, daughter Christina Thater (Michael) grandchildren Malli McGrath, Omega Von, Oliver Von, and Ophelia Von Thater, brothers Chuck (nephew Robert), John Gary and sister Cathy. Aunts Marilyn Edwards (formally Drake), Walline (Marvin) Johnson, and many many first, second and third cousins.

Curt is preceded in death by his dad Charles Roland Walters, Uncles John and Don, Grandfather Rudy Brandstetter and Uncle Gordan Drake.

Cremation took place in Fort Myers Florida, Services will be held later this summer in Sheridan.
