Sandra Lee Smith

Sandra "Sandi" Smith, 73, of Parkman, Wyoming, passed away peacefully at her home on June 2, 2026, surrounded by the people and place she loved most.

Sandi was born on May 19, 1953, in Sheridan, Wyoming, to Gale and Betty Mittelstadt. She grew up in Parkman and attended the Parkman Community School before continuing her education at Tongue River High School in Dayton.

On September 12, 1969, she married her sweetheart, Alvin "Smiley" Smith. Together they started a life centered on family, community, and a ranching lifestyle. Following the birth of their first son, Gale, the couple returned to the Pass Creek area in 1972. A couple of years after the birth of their second son, Robert, they made their home in Parkman in 1977, where they would spend the rest of their lives together.

Sandi dedicated many years of service to her community, and in many ways, her work reflected what she enjoyed most- visiting with her friends. During the 1980's, she began selling Avon, which allowed her to do just that while earning a living. She also worked as a highway construction flagger during the summer months. In 1993, she became the Parkman Postmaster, a position she held until her retirement in 2015. She was also deeply involved in the Parkman Promotors Women's Club and took great pride in helping strengthen the community she called home.

Sandi was an avid reader and had a lifelong love of horses. She enjoyed stamping with friends, attending rodeos and music concerts, traveling, and spending time with family. One of her greatest joys was watching her grandson, Nolan, participate in sports and celebrate his accomplishments.

Sandi is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Alvin Smith of Parkman; her sons, Gale Smith and his wife Merredith, and Robert Smith; her grandson, Nolan Smith; her sisters, Judi Charles (late husband Jesus) and Lori Young and her husband Jim; her nieces, Jennifer Shreve, Jolen Canet, Kim Murphy, Michelle Kruse, and Tricia Dally; and her nephews, Dennis Cumming, Jerry Doty, and Ken Doty.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gale and Betty Mittelstadt.

A Memorial Service celebrating Sandi's life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at the Parkman Post Office.

Sandi will be remembered for her kindness, dedication to her family and community, and the many friendships she cultivated throughout her life. Her presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
