Michael Belisle

Husband, Father, Friend and Grandfather

Michael Belisle, longtime resident who began visiting Sheridan when he was 9, passed away April 21 after a short battle with heart disease and cancer.

Michael would want you to remember the good times: fly fishing in the Big Horns, fun in the ocean, boat rides and water skiing, water balloon fights on July 4th, playing whiffle ball and frisbee on the beach, snow skiing with the kids between his legs, learning and teaching and loving windsurfing, and the list goes on.

Remember him on North Fork in the Big Horn Mountains, competing with his stepdad, Chig Madia, to see who could bring the most trout home to all the families and friends in Sheridan. His fly fishing skill was poetry in motion and he shared his love of fly fishing with his kids and everyone who visited Wyoming.

Michael loved old movies from the 1930's-50's and tried to live his life adhering to the values those films depicted so well.

He enjoyed many rounds of golf, trap shooting with friends and playing cards of any kind, especially poker!

He worked long hours in the field of real estate and property management, but Michael loved to vacation with his family in Wyoming and Hawaii.

Born and raised in Long Beach, CA, Michael graduated from Wilson High School in 1972. He attended Long Beach City College and graduated from the University of Wyoming. He and Helene were married in the Big Horns and raised their three children in Southern California. Once retired in 2019, they lived in Sheridan, Wyoming and wintered in Fort Mohave, Arizona.

Michael is survived by his wife of 45 years, Helene, children Sean, Derek and Samantha Belisle, daughter-in-law Kelsi Belisle, grandchildren, Brady and Brooke Belisle and Sean's fiancée, Jazmin Evers - and many dear friends.

He was a Mason, Scottish Rite and Shriner and was committed to the work of the Shriners Hospitals. Michael will be missed by his many friends and family members. He touched us all in so many ways and it was truly, "A Wonderful Life."
