Sandra Lee Brug
Sandra was born on December 2nd, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to Mary Hogg and Herman Michaely. She was the third of four children. She was the only girl, and her brothers Charles, Arthur, and William shared may great memories with her throughout her lifetime. She grew up in Des Plaines IL and graduated from Maine Township High School. Sandy had her daughter Michelle in 1964. She was an incredibly gifted pen & ink artist, and entered the art world designing a line of greeting cards that were sold in the Chicago area. Sandy was the artist, and her best friend Sharon Harris did the calligraphy.
Sandy always loved horses and being in the outdoors, so in the early 1970s, Sandy moved to Recluse, Wyoming. On 12/1/1980, she married Robert L. Brug. They lived on a ranch, working hard and enjoying the challenging ranch life together. They also ran a successful deer and antelope hunting camp. Robert and Sandy were leaders in their local 4-H club.
Sandy was an avid philanthropist and donated her exquisitely drawn and beautifully framed pen & ink drawings to many organizations supporting good causes. She drew a portrait of Governor Mike Sullivan and donated it to him. Dick Cheney has the original drawing of her Wyoming Toad and her Spring Shed buffalo drawing hangs in the Wyoming State Capital Building. In 2013, Sandy won the Annie Oakley award at the very first Wyoming Woman's Antelope Hunt.
Over the course of her life, Sandy brought joy and laughter to anyone she came into contact with. Her humor was with her to the very end she told her nurses that they had to do whatever she asks as it was her last day. She was a leader, organizer, hard-working rancher, talented artist, loving friend, and a giving mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook that loved planning extravagant meals for a large crew of hunters and for her family during the holidays. She leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, hard work, family traditions, and countless memories that we will hold close forever. Though we will miss her greatly, we take comfort in knowing that her fun and loving spirit will live on in each person that was blessed in knowing her.
Sandy is survived by husband Robert Brug, daughter Michelle Krumberger, grandchildren Nicolette and Micah Krumberger, and brothers Art Michaely and Bill Michaely.
She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
A public viewing will be held Monday, October 20, 2025. at 12:30 P.M., at the Immanuel Lutheran Church followed by a service starting at 1:00 P.M. Immediately following the service interment will take place in the Juniper Heights section of the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
