Richard Dean Gifford passed away on January 29, 2025 at Sheridan Memorial Hospital after battling Interstitial Lung Disease. He was born on October 5, 1960 to Phil and Maxine (Bilyeu) Gifford.
Richard was on the Bronc Football team his senior year and attended Wyoming Cowboy games when possible. He graduated form Sheridan High School in 1979. After graduation, Richard moved to Rock Springs, WY and worked for Jim Bridger Power Plant advancing to a Control Operator before returning to Sheridan.
Richard was good at most anything he tried such as, boxing in his younger days.
He was a Classic Car Enthusiast, he loved working on his vehicles, fishing at Flaming Gorge Reservoir, skiing (especially at Jackson Hole). He enjoyed road trips on his motorcycle and attending Outlaw Sprint car races. He loved raising Old English Sheep dogs and enjoyed playing pool very much. Richard was also an avid reader; reading most anything-including lengthy books on history. He had the knowledge to have a conversation on just about any subject and a good sense of humor!
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Claudia K Plachek and husband Gary Plachek, brother Philip Gifford Jr. and his wife Linda (Coleman) Gifford. He his survived by his brothers Rod and Ed Gifford. Niece's Angela Trebas (Claudia and Gary), Holly (Peter) Irey (Philip and Linda), Courtney (Cody) Gion (Rod and Mary), Whitney Gifford (Rod and Mary) and Heather (Nick) Montano ( Ed and Pam DeTavernier). A celebration of Richard's life will be held at a later date.
